Spring Ball is the program where around 900 Wrentham youths participate every year. The air is crisp as ball gloves are broken in and practices begin in April. Five year olds get their first chance to swing the bat while 12 year olds swing for the fence. Ball players are broken down by age brackets into either T-Ball, Instructional, Minor and Major divisions and play amongst their peers. Older children have the opportunity to play in either the softball seniors league or the baseball Babe Ruth league.

Placement
The list below covers the common placement of children and the sport they are playing. Age is determined differently for baseball/T-Ball and softball. Baseball/T-Ball ages are based on players ages as of April 30th of the current year. Softball ages are based on players ages as of December 31st of the previous year. For an age determination chart please click here. All five and six year olds will play T-Ball. Players may be moved up or down at the discrestion of the league and based up input from parents and coaches. The league is the final determining authority on placement with most important factors being: player's safety, player's ability to succeed, sibling placement and division size.
We take requests for player/team and player/player placements up through the T-Ball and Instructional divisions as we all know its more fun to play with your friends. Once a player hits the minor division level or above all players are placed into a draft so that every team is competitive and balanced. Requests to play with friends are generally not honored at the minor level or above. If there is a specific need to have children placed together then please contact the commisioner of that division.

Evaluations
Evaluations for baseball and softball take place in March. Evaluations are for players ages 9-12. These are not tryouts! Every player will be placed on a team. The evaluations allow to balance the major and minors leagues to allow for more competitive games. There is a special baseball tryout that takes place for players that are 10 years old and wish to play in the Majors. We ask that all players attend the tryouts.
Coaches
Anyone interested in coaching a spring team should follow up by contacting the commissioner of the league they are interested in coaching in. A list of commissioners can be found by clicking here. Coaches will be chosen in late February/early
Player Notification
Most players should be contacted by their coaches by late March with practices beginning in April. T-Ball players are usually contacted in early April by their coaches.
